Welcome to Excelsior ISD! We are looking forward to a great 2010-2011 school year.
There have been a few changes that I’d like to point out. BE SURE TO READ THIS PAGE CAREFULLY.
- Pre-K – 3rd grade students may eat breakfast between 7:30 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. 4th – 8th graders may eat breakfast between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. If your child intends to eat breakfast, make sure he/she arrives at school during that time frame. We prefer that students are not dropped off prior to 7:30 a.m. (nobody is available to supervise them before 7:30)
- ALL STUDENTS NOT EATING BREAKFAST ARE TO REPORT DIRECTLY TO THEIR 1ST PERIOD CLASSROOM. Teachers will be in the classrooms at 7:30 a.m.
- 1st period classes for Pre-K – 3rd graders begins at 8:00 a.m. Students are to be in their classroom ready to begin class BEFORE the bell rings at 8:00. Pre-K – 3rd grade students who arrive on campus after 8:00 a.m. must be signed in by his or her parent in the administration office. Students shall be referred to one half-day of Saturday school after accumulating five (5) 1st period tardies in one semester.
- Last period for Pre-K & Kindergarten ends at 2:50 p.m. You may pick your child up at that time…if your child rides the bus home, he/she will be held until the bus leaves at 3:10 p.m.
- 1st period for 4th – 8th graders begins at 7:50 a.m. Students are to be in their classroom ready to begin class BEFORE the bell rings at 7:50. 4th – 8th grade students who arrive on campus after 7:50 a.m. must be signed in by his or her parent in the administration office. Students shall be referred to one half-day of Saturday school after accumulating five (5) 1st period tardies in one semester.
- Last period for 1st – 8th grades ends at 3:10 p.m. The buses will begin taking students home at that time. If you have a child in Pre-K or K AND a child in 1st – 8th grade, you must wait until 3:10 p.m. to pick both children up. You will not be permitted to pick up the older children at 2:50 p.m.
- Students may NOT bring lunches from home that must be cooked at school (Ramen noodles, mac-n-cheese, cans of soup, etc.) Items may still be brought that can be heated in the microwave (as long as time permits).
- For safety and security purposes, Excelsior ISD has installed video surveillance cameras throughout the campus. More information about the use of video surveillance cameras can be found in the 2010-2011 student handbook.
- ALL VISITORS must sign in at the office and receive a visitor’s badge before entering the campus. If you are spotted on campus without a visitor’s badge, you will be asked to report to the office to sign in and receive one. **Please read the enclosed information regarding our V-Soft system to help track visitors, students, faculty, contractors and volunteers at our school. You MUST bring your State-Issued Photo ID, or your Driver’s License so that it can be scanned into our system. (If you have already had your license scanned, it should already be saved in our system.)
- STUDENTS / VISITORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER/EXIT THROUGH THE CAFETERIA DOOR.
Once again, welcome to the 2010-2011 school year…we look forward to working with each of you to provide the best educational experience for your child. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call 1-936-598-5866 or stop by.
